I suppose the Dark Elf empire grows and tries to solidify but finds itself in a war that tests its internal cohesion so much that even though it prevails, it is so weakened it breaks apart bit by bit. Wyhtl has deep insecurities about its place in the multivers and Dark Elf colonies, well, communities, reatreat into minority status, remembering the good old days and insisting that their version of the Dark Elf langauge which has become the lingua fanca is the “real” one. Slowly, they find themselvs in caves and underground as their estates and farms and business are nationalized or redistributed. Several farming faming planets find themselvs very hungry. Maladministration is a big problem. In the midst of all this, ed 1 D&D is developed.
